Hello, it\u2019s me again, Himawan from Indonesia. This time, we will talk about the very thing you are reading right now. Yep, the Storyteller Program<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While my journey at 24Slides has been diverse and I\u2019ve worked across different departments, there\u2019s one experience that has always sparked a special passion in me: writing. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s find out how I balance this hobby with my regular responsibilities at the company and how my passion has been revamped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The Very Beginning<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I started volunteering as a blog author in 2017, just over two months after joining as a Customer Support trainee. Back then, the articles primarily focused on team activities, particularly covering our Play Saturday events (now PlayDay) and Social Activities in Indonesia. We focused on sharing all the fun and engagement in our team, so we can emphasize the unique culture we experience at 24Slides. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sartika was the initiator of this program, which was announced to all the 24Sliders who were interested in writing. It took me just a few seconds to sign up for this opportunity. A few weeks later, I became one of the two contributors for our blog. There was no test, so anyone interested was welcome to participate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Marketing Manager at that time, who was in charge of the program, would assist us with editing and suggesting improvements in every article. This proves how continuous learning was implemented at 24Slides. At this internal program, we were always allowed and facilitated to learn!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I gained many valuable tips and new knowledge on writing from here, and that\u2019s how my passion for writing (and, more specifically, journalism) was reawakened. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were no significant challenges in managing my workload. Writing my story was not considered a regular task, so it was something I did out of passion. I just needed to find spare time \u2014 preferably outside working hours \u2014 to write. Rizal, my Manager back then, was very appreciative of my involvement and contribution through this program.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n


How the Program Sharpened and Extended My Writing<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to this early version of the Storyteller Program, I was able to contribute to 24Slides\u2019 website while sharpening my writing skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The article format matched my preference, as I simply needed to retell the stories and include some commentaries from people involved. This was similar to how I used to write and edit news for multiple university media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, I sometimes write news articles as a citizen journalist. In 2018, some of my news was featured in national and regional media. To date, I have had six news articles published in national media, and five of those are about 24Slides.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entering the New Storyteller Era<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, the Storyteller Program was launched. It could be considered an evolution of our blog writing contributor program, which I explained before. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, this initiative is our way of showcasing what it means to be part of 24Slides. It allows employees to share stories related to various topics, such as team-building activities, our culture and working environment, volunteering experiences<\/a>, and many others.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes it different then? The concept remains essentially the same, but we now strive to make the stories more inspiring to people inside and outside 24Slides by emphasizing our values, purpose, and culture. Now, we are giving actual examples of how 24Slides has made a positive impact on our lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking back on how the Storyteller Program has evolved, I realized that it\u2019s more than just the evolution of our website and blog. The people behind the program have also been evolving throughout the years. More importantly, it also shows how 24Slides keeps evolving as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time I\u2019m writing this article, there are 38 Storyteller articles on the 24Slides blog. I was surprised to realize that 10 of those are my pieces. During my eight years at the company (so far), I have written 26 articles for our blog<\/a> and several others for our help center section<\/a>. These numbers demonstrate my passion for writing, and I\u2019d like to continue pursuing it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another Opportunity to Keep Growing\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In terms of personal growth, I feel that being an active \u2018Storyteller\u2019 has helped me improve my writing style. Coming from a news writing background, finding a more \u2018personal\u2019 point of view was challenging at first, but the Content Writing team is always there to give me input and inspiration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ciquita<\/a>, another contributor, also thinks that the Storyteller Program is beneficial as it expands her ability to put her thoughts into words:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not really an easy thing to do, and sometimes once you write, you can\u2019t stop because the process is interestingly enjoyable.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

More than 20 employees from four countries have shared their stories as part of the Storyteller Program. I believe this is a great opportunity to showcase 24Slides and the amazing team behind it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personally, I find it very exciting to see things from different perspectives, and that is also why I usually include some commentaries from my colleagues. For me, it is also a form to positively engage our global team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hope we can keep sharing, and that more people will join this empowering program!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
