Just when we thought our company’s growth couldn’t be any faster, we’ve recently welcomed 30+ new presentation designers in Indonesia and Peru!
They have just completed their training as new employees, but that’s only the beginning of their journey. Let’s look at how 24Slides has been training and developing talent, particularly among our designers.
How Everything Started
Going back to the very beginning (2010), our CEO Tobias was impressed by the creative talents in Malang, the so-called “Education City” in Indonesia where diverse talent could be found. At that time, we recruited skillful designers and established our first office there.
In 2019, we decided to build a new team that can help us enhance our impact while covering worldwide business hours. For that, Lima, Peru, became our new base of creative talent, and 24Slides’ growth began to take shape!
But why Peru? After running a competition and going through multiple considerations, Peru had shown the best candidates. We truly believe that the Peruvian team is not a regular branch; it’s an extension of a big team that works collaboratively for a common purpose.
The Training and Human Development
Nowadays, training processes have become a must for every company. Not only because trends and demands constantly change but also because they are crucial for creating a more innovative workspace while bolstering employees’ skills.
Presentation design is a relatively uncommon skill, so we help our designers refine their knowledge. They might have come in as good designers, but we want to transform them into even greater presentation designers.
We take 1-month training to ensure the trainees in Peru and Indonesia are ready to deliver high-quality designs to our clients worldwide. Also, we have created different educational initiatives like the 24Academy, where they can take some courses to enhance their technical and soft skills.
In this process, we realized that a culture of learning was needed. That’s why we use a hybrid system combining self-learning and qualitative assessments. The great thing is that once our colleagues are enrolled in 24Academy, there is no need to wait for classes with a set schedule; they can study at their own pace.
It’s important to mention the labor of the People Development team, which makes all of this possible. They play a critical role by guiding and giving constructive feedback throughout each course. For task-based classes, there are review rounds where both sides have discussions, and once the course is completed, a final overview is also provided.
In the last two years, our colleagues have completed 751 courses at 24Academy, and there is still more learning waiting for us!
Going further: The Career Path in 24Slides
At 24Slides, we aim to form leaders who will build a better future for our company and society in general. As a Certified B-Corporation, we are committed to empowering talent from emerging countries by giving them the tools to compete in the global market.
In that regard, completing the courses from our internal academy has become one of the requirements for regular promotion in the Design department. This means that a “level 1 designer” must complete a set of courses before getting promoted to a “level 2 designer” role.
The process sounds easy, but our top-level designers must show strong management skills and exceptional design expertise. And if they require further skill improvement, we are open to supporting them.
We are convinced that continuous training will enable us to become better professionals – or even evolve into the best version of ourselves. This commitment will drive our path.
Over time, new designers will join the 24Slides family, and together, we will embark on a growth journey. We are excited to see what the future holds for us!
