Hello, it’s me again, Himawan from the People Development team.
Back in June 2026, I initiated a three-part Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) event in collaboration with Soul Shifter Role Play Society. This is an initiative proposed by a 24Slider and supported by the company through the Community Fund program.
Let’s talk about exactly what it is and how it encourages employees to seamlessly become ambassadors of the company’s impact.
The Community Fund Program
The Community Fund program was introduced in 2026 to facilitate community activities. Any employee can submit a proposal for an activity they intend to initiate. Once approved, the initiator will support the program’s launch, primarily regarding budget and facilities.
So far, we have organized 11 activities across three of our offices: Indonesia (5), Peru (4), and Denmark (2). In addition to the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) sessions, we have organized sports events and crafting activities.
And what makes it different from 24Club? As mentioned above, the initiator would be a 24Slider instead of the company. The 24Club program is still running, but we now offer another experiential program that focuses more on community and is even more inclusive, as it can be open to people outside the company.
The Vision
Back to the Community Fund program, I find it quite interesting that now we can do more for communities while allowing employees to become ambassadors. Also, there are more aspects we can cover beyond education, as I shared in the other Storyteller.
According to Bayu, our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager in Indonesia, this program was launched to support employee-led initiatives—especially those that strengthen engagement, togetherness, and connection among colleagues.
“This program is not an event managed directly by CSR or People Success (PS), but rather a form of support so that employees can turn their passion into inclusive activities and involve their colleagues”, he added.
The program is still considered a pilot that will be reviewed. However, the responses and progress are positive so far. 24Slides wants to show that the investment in people, community, and belonging is still in motion — side by side with business performance and revenue.
“Moving forward, this program is expected to be a sustainable support mechanism to strengthen the local ownership and employee engagement in each office, as well as being proof that small activities that come from employees’ passion could also create a meaningful impact for 24Slides’ internal community,” Bayu concluded.
I was also curious about other initiators’ perspectives. Jose was one of the first 24Sliders to initiate an activity. He had an archery session joined by our colleagues in Peru.
“I think the main motivation behind the event was to foster stronger connections among my teammates,” he explained.
He also believes that choosing unique activities would make the experience more exciting and give us a great story to tell.
Dungeons & Dragons: From a Game to a Space for Connection
I first introduced the D&D events to my colleagues back in 2024, with positive responses following. D&D is one of the classic Tabletop Role-Playing Game formats, where you can create a character and role-play it in adventures through fantasy worlds with lots of possibilities. Players would work as a team to achieve certain goals set by the Dungeon Master.
While having fun is the main goal, the activity also brings people together and encourages different kinds of interactions. It also provides a safe place as we act as our made-up characters instead of our true selves. The activities successfully blurred the lines between us, as the players come from different departments and roles, ranging from interns to department leaders. With the enthusiasm from both new and returning players, I want to keep looking for something new to be experienced by the players.
When the Community Fund was introduced, I saw the opportunity to expand the internal community and connect with the external community for more inclusivity. Through the collaboration, we met new people and connected with a new network. Also, this became a chance for us to promote our company culture by introducing the programs that are now accessible to the public.
The D&D event was a success, with all player slots filled across all three sessions. We got 18 players signed up, and nine of them came from outside 24Slides. They came from various backgrounds: designer, game consultant, HR staff, teacher, digital analyst, business owner, and fresh graduate.
This Community Fund event not only helped us connect with new people but also reconnected us with former work colleagues, as three of us used to be 24Sliders. In collaboration with the Soul Shifter Role Play Society, we were also connected with a community whose co-founder is a 9-year-experienced international Dungeon Master.
Based on the post-event survey and direct feedback, most of the players are very likely to return for similar events in the future. In addition, we had even more curiosity and interest piqued, and some new names (unofficially) signed up for the next event already. It was so nice to get to introduce the experience, meet new people, and simply have fun.
A little fun fact: one of the players was someone I knew from a local HR community. He worked at a company that has collaborated with us on some fun activities over the past few years. After the D&D event, he said we might soon explore more opportunities for collaboration on similar activities. Somehow, my connections with local communities help me reach people outside 24Slides more easily.
What is Next?
I am already working on more ideas for activities that hopefully bring and maintain fun and sense.
By initiating more community events, I want to share more positive values with more people. This is not done just by me as an individual, but also as a part of 24Slides.
