Beyond Design: 24Academy’s New Pathway to Professional Growth

As part of our goal to work towards Designing a Better Future, 24Slides is deeply involved in giving back to the communities that surround us. This means going beyond just charity events and donations — it also means investing in creating fair job opportunities and providing people with in-demand skills that will, in turn, improve their quality of life. 

That’s why two years ago we opened our learning platform, 24Academy, for external students interested in learning and improving their skills through free online courses. 

In these last months, 24Academy has opened three different editions of our pilot course, “Introduction to Presentation Design.” With two openings in Indonesia and the following expansion of the program to Peru, this course was meant to utilize the incredible talent and expertise of our team of in-house designers, allowing them to share their knowledge with external students. 

However, as a multinational company serving more than 70 countries worldwide, 24Slides has expertise in more than just design. Through a top-notch customer-facing team, the skills for guaranteeing seamless communication with every single client provide us with a unique opportunity to share this knowledge with people looking to grow in a fast-developing market.

From all this knowledge, a brand new 24Academy course was born: “Introduction to Customer Support.

Diversifying Knowledge

This first course outside the realm of design skills is a new milestone in our journey to provide market-relevant courses and to disrupt the traditional way of thinking about education, ensuring quality and accessibility above all. As a company that supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we’ve found that our way to contribute to reducing inequalities is to provide people with the tools to build sustainable career paths that will improve their employability. 

Customer support is an essential skill in today’s global service economy. In a deeply competitive market, the support given to clients is a key aspect of almost any business. By offering this course, we aimed to open new professional doors for participants, no matter their background. 

Our goal was to create a course that could help people looking to upskill or even reskill to improve their employability. As such, the only condition was the interest in continuing to grow and develop a professional life. The course was specifically designed to require only 3–4 hours per week, making it accessible even for students or working professionals. 

A Hands-On Learning Journey

Our course “Introduction to Customer Support” ran from April to May. For six weeks, the 16 selected students for this pilot class received interactive materials and hands-on tasks to test their new skills. 

To guarantee the course’s applicability and effectiveness, participants also received personalized feedback from our in-house experts. The course included one final live session, during which students could interact with their instructors in real time and resolve any questions they might have. 

A final course assignment was the perfect way to close “Introduction to Customer Support”, to ensure that students graduated with real-life applicable skills.

Skills That Make a Difference

When developing courses for our external 24Academy program, our priority is always to enable people with real-life, actionable skills with the potential of improving their career path, their life, and, in turn, their community. 

We’re proud to say that 75% of participants successfully finished the course, allowing them to continue to develop their careers into the future. Not only that, but the students of “Introduction to Customer Support” rated the course an average of 4.6 (out of 5), highlighting its clarity and applicability in furthering their skills.
